Print Industry Advocacy

The Print Industry has been around for many years, dating back to Woodblock Printing in China around 200 AD. Over the years as the Printing Industry has evolved, various companies both large and small have promoted the beneficial impacts the industry provides; economically and environmentally. You may have seen some of the promotions spreading the word during the 2015 Super Bowl as “The Paper Check Off” aired commercials inspiring viewers to see Paper in a “brighter light”.

We, at J.P. Gasway, strongly support Print Industry Advocacy and the sustainability of paper as a leading sustainable resource in North America.  We are affiliated with many groups including AIPPM and PIM, as well as being a charter member of TwoSides North America.  Below, we have listed some of the websites that provide knowledge and facts vs. myths of paper sustainability, along with much, much more information.

"Two Sides is a global initiative by companies from the Graphic Communications Industry including forestry, pulp, paper, inks and chemicals, pre-press, press, finishing, publishing, printing, envelopes and postal operators. Our common goal is to promote the sustainability of the Graphics Communications Industry and dispel common environmental misconceptions by providing users with verifiable information on why Print and Paper is an attractive, practical and sustainable communications medium."

"Paper is a sustainable, renewable, recyclable, plant-based product that connects us in so many ways to the important things in life. Great ideas are started on paper. The world is educated on paper. Businesses are founded on paper. Love is professed on paper. Important news is spread on paper."

"The Paper and Packaging Board brings together the paper and paper-based packaging sectors to promote and increase consumer appreciation for paper and paper-based packaging, reduce guilt about using these products and deepen understanding of the industry’s environmentally – friendly practices."

"Paper & Packaging – How Life Unfolds™ is a promotional campaign from the Paper and Packaging Board (P+PB). Authorized by federal legislation, P+PB was created to administer the Paper and Paper-Based Packaging Promotion, Research and Information Order (also known as the Paper Checkoff), in order to help stem the decline of paper use and increase the demand for paper-based packaging. The Paper Check-Off allows manufacturers and importers of these products to band together for the purposes of promotion, education and research, and joins numerous other agricultural checkoffs that work through the USDA on behalf of their respective industries."

"The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) is the national trade association of the forest products industry and advances public policies that promote a strong and sustainable U.S. forest products industry in the global marketplace. AF&PA is committed to a sustainable, thriving forest and paper products industry that continues to improve tomorrow’s environment today."
